County Weather Warning Protocols
Waukesha County Communications Dispatch Center is responsible for the activation of the Outdoor Warning siren in the Village of Pewaukee along with other County communities.
The sirens will be activated under the following conditions:
Tornado on the ground, which is an immediate threat to the community.
A rotating funnel cloud aloft posing an imminent threat to the community when reported by a trained, reliable source.
Damaging winds or large hail causing property damage and posing an immediate threat to health and safety. This would mean winds in excess of 70 mph or hail, golf ball size or larger.
A police or fire shift commander or local Emergency Government official determines that weather conditions are posing a threat to the health, safety and properties of residents.
Notification from NLETS, NOAA weather radio alert or telephone call from the National Weather Service in Sullivan or notification from other dispatch centers reporting a sighting which may be headed to Waukesha County.
For those people who have County "police" radio scanners, an area wide broadcast will be made on the appropriate talk group as well as on the VHF County Fire Frequency.
